Semester 3
Heat pump Housing
There are two primary parts that make up a heat pump. The indoor unit and the outdoor unit. The outdoor unit requires a lot of air, so it's frequently set up in the backyard or on the roof. The order for this project came from the company Ordelman & Dijkman installaties Hengelo B.V.. This business intended to use an enclosure to move the outdoor unit indoors and install it in the attic. This saved the technician from having to climb onto the roof to service the heat pump, which was helpful. The biggest problem, which arises in this process, is supplying enough air for the outdoor unit. This air needs to come from somewhere outside the attic. Large air ducts are needed for this. Additionally, our buyer required the item to be fully constructed, lifted inside as a single unit, and appropriate for various roof angles. Additionally, the heat pump must be protected from precipitation and condensation that forms during use must be drained. In the end, we were able to resolve every one of these issues in our design.
